Narrow Roads & One Line Bridges

Many roads in Iceland, both gravel roads and paved roads, are really narrow. Make sure to drive carefully and reduce the speed when passing other vehicles from the opposite direction.

Note: Accidents commonly occur when driving on loose gravel on the side of narrow paved roads causing the vehicle to lose grip and end up on the side of the road.

Many bridges are too narrow to allow more than one car to cross at a time. Please approach them with caution!
